The Asian Rural Institute (ARI) seeks support for Rural Leaders Training Program 40th year anniversary assessment project
Positions available:
1. 2 Research Assistants
Time frame: mid-March 2013- mid-December 2013
Time commitment: 45-55 hours per month
Main responsibilities: project review, materials review, interviews of program participants, data collection and reports.
2. Survey design and interview training/support
A person to help us in March and April with the survey development. i
am looking for someone who can help us take the things we want to know
and put them in an effective format and to also help train the
assistants in how to do the interviews. In April after the first
interview, we would need to review the interview questions and then
that person could bow out.
3. Curriculum assessment
A person who knows about a rural training and such curriculum
development – we need help with the training program review and need
someone who knows about training programs and support. this would take
place in the spring and summer, but a report or draft article would
not be due until Sept.
Requirements for all – excellent English, interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills and an interest in community development programs.

TEDxTokyo conference on May 11th
We're gearing up for our 5th annual TEDxTokyo conference on May
11th and it’s looking to be bigger and better than ever before. It will all be
happening in our new home - Tokyu's Hikarie building in Shibuya and as in
previous years the event will be live streamed in both Japanese and English.
Our theme this year is '1+1=11'. Put simply, don't take things for
granted, don't be constrained by traditional views. As we all know, the best
TED speakers, the ones that inspire us the most are the one's that surprise,
that wake us up by challenging common thinking. The aim of our event is to do
exactly that.

The Tokyo International Children's Choir (TICC) will hold a
mini-fundraiser at Frijoles in Azabu Juban on Sunday, February 10th (between
2-5 pm). The choristers will sing
a few songs at 2 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm.
Mr. Miyano, Frijoles owner, will donate 200 yen per burrito sold and 100
yen per fountain drink sold during the fundraiser period to the TICC. We are really grateful for his support
and hope to see you there!
