Memorial: Together for 3.11 (Fellowship for Japan)

A memorial service in New York will commemorate the fifth anniversary of
the disaster and convey the message that the people of Tohoku have not
been forgotten.
Conference: The United States and Japan: Reassessing 3-11 (Sasakawa USA & US-Japan Council)
March 8, Washington, DC
The panel discussions with American and Japanese experts and officials
will cover the initial international response to the disaster, the
Fukushima nuclear accident, lessons learned from the Tohoku experience,
and Operation Tomodachi. It will be livestreamed on their website.

The event showcases the stories from the program that brought 3/11 and
9/11 survivors together, a short documentary film, and a conversation
about the power of human connection and healing.

The exhibition reveals a range of photographic responses to the 3/11
disaster, showcasing more than 90 photographic works by 17 artists.
Study Trip: Disaster Recovery in Japan

Students from University of Maryland will participate in a 5-week
program that involves a week of study in Japan to better
understand disaster recovery and risk reduction management.

NGO and business leaders from around Japan will gather to discuss
how the expertise and resources of the private sector can be utilized
for humanitarian assistance work and introduce innovative solutions to

March 23, Boston, MA
The event will provide a forum for the Greater Boston community to
commemorate the affected individuals and communities in Tohoku and
reflect on lessons learned and progress made for recovery.
Concert: Fukushima Youth Symphony in Boston
April 3, Boston, MA
To commemorate the 5th Anniversary of the Tohoku disaster, the Fukushima
Youth Sinfonietta will travel to Boston to perform at the city’s
Symphony Hall. The orchestra was created by students of Fukushima high
schools who found music to be an essential vehicle for recovery in the
immediate aftermath of 3/11. The students performed at London’s Queen
Elizabeth Hall in 2014 and gave a performance at the Tokyo Opera City
Concert Hall in August 2015, which was attended by the Empress.

Description:
Atlas Corps seeks nonprofit/NGO professionals from around the world to apply for Fellowships in the U.S. Atlas Corps engages leaders committed to the nonprofit sector in 6-18 month, professional fellowships at organizations to learn best practices, build organizational capacity, and return home to create a network of global leaders. Fellows serve at Host Organizations working on issues that complement their expertise. This prestigious fellowship includes a living stipend to cover basic expenses (food, local transportation, and shared housing) and health insurance.
Applicants: aged 22-35 plus 2-10 years of relevant experience in the nonprofit/social sector, a bachelor's degree or equivalent, English proficiency, commitment to return to your home country after the fellowship.
