OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERING WITH RIJ: FUNDING COMMITTEE
THE RIJ FUNDING COMMITTEE would welcome enquiries from anyone
interested in joining them:
angie@refugeesinternationaljapan.orgEVERY YEAR, RIJ volunteers organize a full program of events to raise
funds and to spread awareness of refugee issues. If you have time,
enthusiasm and would like to help with planning and running an event,
please let us know what kind of help you would like to offer (be it
time, energy and/or expertise) and how much time you can spare to work
with RIJ. Events range from our annual Auction and Art of Dining
exhibition to smaller social activities such as a pub quiz and youth
dance workshops - also we are working on a project to convert a
shipping container into a 'refugee experience'. Volunteers can work
from home or at our office and at times to suit their work and family
commitments. Even as little as an hour a week can make a difference.
And you are guaranteed to meet some wonderful dedicated people and
have fun! Contact:

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), a 501(c)(3)
organization, has been at the forefront of a wide range of suicide
prevention initiatives -- each designed to reduce loss of life from
suicide. AFSP research grants support studies that aim to increase
understanding of the causes of suicide and factors related to suicide
risk, or to test treatments and other interventions designed to
prevent suicide. Investigators from all academic disciplines are
eligible to apply, and both basic science and applied research
projects will be considered, providing the study has an essential
focus on suicide or suicide prevention. Readmore:

practitioner in international human rights to take a sabbatical leave
from front-line work to spend the fall semester (September-December)

collaborations within the UIC community (School of Public Health,
School of Nursing, Department of Anthropology) and develop
relationships with international governmental and non-governmental
organizations in order to perform effective global health work.
