Heart Knit Bazaar

Heart Knit Project supported women in temporary housing complexes in Iwate as they tried to get back on their feet after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami; the women created knitted items from donated yarn from all over the world, with the help of pro bono knitting teachers and patterns. All proceeds have gone directly to the women.
The project is finally disbanding at the end of the year as plans are underway for the women to get consignment orders from apparel companies. This will be the very last donation event in Tokyo!

Have a blast with fall colors. Otaguro Park has a lovely layout, with viewing pavilions, stone bridges, a pond, a waterfall, and a variety of color. Then you will find Kadokawa Garden and Gengi Sanbo Suginami Poetry House (a modern Sukiya-style Japanese house, designated as a national tangible cultural asset). The residence of Kadokawa Genyoshi, the founder of Kadokawa Shoten Publishing & Co., is open to the public.
☆Meeting Time/Place: 13:00 JR Chuo Line Ogikubo Station North Exit
☆Course: Ogikubo Station North Exit - Amanuma Overpass - Aurora Monument - Gandhi Statue - Seiko Lodging - Otaguro Park - Kadokawa Garden/Gengi Sanbo - Tenposhinbori Water Head Gate -  Tekigaiso Park - Chudoji Temple - Yosano Park - Ogikubo Station North Exit
Walking Time: About 2 hours (5km).

2) Arakawa River Clean Up and Dinner
meet at MINAMI SUNAMACHI Station (Tozai Line) outside ticket gate for exits 2 and 3 at 12:00noon., and then go to the Arakawa River by car and pick up trash along the banks for about 2.5 to 3 hours. Afterwards we go to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
Recommended: Hat, long pants (for weed protection), long-sleeve shirt (for sun protection), gloves, walking/hiking shoes, generally older clothing that you don't mind getting a little dirty. The clean up route will be mostly paved so rubber boots will not be necessary
If you come late, walk to the river (about 10 min) and look for us at the water line to the right of the Tozai Line bridge. Also call  090-1847-5075 if there are any problem finding us. Let's have fun enjoying local nature while making it better.

The eco-friendly workout is a more comprehensive form of exercise, requiring bending and arm movements to pick up garbage while running. 30 mins of plogging burns 288 calories, compared to 235 calories from regular jogging...
