The Fujisawa Beach Cleaning Project (FBCP) started in 2009, as a large biannual beach cleanup that attracts approx. 600 corporate volunteers, both Japanese and nonJapanese. The Project is looking for corporate partners A community activity that brings people together to do something good and to get to know each other better, the Project has historically focused on cleaning beaches in the Shonan area and on gathering data on marine debris. The Project It has grown to include more than beach cleaning: outdoor temporary art/poster exhibition, kids activities and marine leisure sports. Teams of staff and their families as well as students from international and local schools join and remove an average of 350 kg of debris. Plastic items are the most common objects found in this area that will host the Olympic sailing competitions in 2020.
