Excited to work again with Rachel Walzer (See SEVEN posting 2 years ago.) Although I cannot be in the show, i am supporting PR and outreach.
“Disturbance” is musical theatre work which will premier in Tokyo インJuly. The Show is based on the book by Ivy Alvarez, produced by Tony Award-winning producer Mark Ferris and directed by Rachel Walzer. “Disturbance” tells the story of a family affected by domestic violence over many years. This culminates in a horrific double-murder suicide when the husband and father kills both his son and wife before committing suicide. A daughter, who lives elsewhere, survives this tragedy.  “Disturbance” will premiere at Musicasa, Tokyo with performances scheduled for 2nd, 3rd and 4th July, 2019. Looking for 3-6 people to help with PR and ticket sales. To get involved, please contact Rose.ito@gmail.com.

Robo sapiens japanicus: Robots, Gender, Family, and the Japanese Nation
Friday, June 7, from 4 pm to 6 pm
Admission is free. Japanese interpretation provided.
Japan is arguably the first postindustrial society to embrace the prospect of human-robot coexistence. Over the past decade, Japanese humanoid robots designed for use in homes, hospitals, offices, and schools have become celebrated in mass and social media throughout the world. In Robo sapiens japanicus: Robots, Gender, Family, and the Japanese Nation (University of California Press, 2018), Jennifer Robertson casts a critical eye on press releases and public relations videos that misrepresent robots as being as versatile and agile as their science fiction counterparts.
